In my fine art group yesterday a friend was lamenting she is having a hard time coming up with concepts that inspire her. This is such a universal struggle. I post “Daily Inspiration” on this blog every single day in order to combat it. Now, typically I use visual cues to inspire me, but I realize a lot of artists out there more motivated by words. A dear friend of mine, Bonnie Al-Rifai of Two Creative Birds Photography, wrote a blog detailing three, word-association techniques she uses to break out of her creative funk. Below is the link to her blog post. On it you will find three techniques:
1. The List: this technique was shared with Bonnie by Lindsay Adler where you make lists around the one thing you MUST have in your image.
2. Language Art Themes: this technique was actually a list of words writers can use for breaking out of their writers block. Bonnie suggests keeping these lists in your smart phone so inspiration is never far away. In the blog she goes into detail where to find these lists and a great example for using them.
3. ABC Sentence Method: This is a cool technique where you come up with an entire story where each sentence begins with the next letter of the alphabet. By the end you will be on fire and ready to roll…
Review these techniques in detail on Bonnie’s blog here!
